Where music becomes a shared space for learning and creation
Aurélien Parent-Koenig is a composer and pedagogue working at the intersection of music, education, and cultural projects across borders.
APK STUDIOS was founded by Aurélien Parent-Koenig, a French-American pianist, composer, and educator whose artistic path began at a young age. Alongside early musical studies, he trained in theatre and appeared as a child actor in Chocolat, directed by Lasse Hallström, alongside Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp. He later pursued formal studies in music and composition in France, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
After more than fifteen years of teaching children, composing music to support learning and cultural awareness, working in bilingual educational settings, and directing a music school, Aurélien created APK STUDIOS to bring this experience into a broader cultural and educational framework. His work is grounded in long-term, hands-on practice, where music supports language learning, confidence, curiosity, and collective experience.

Today, APK STUDIOS brings together several complementary activities.
The International Youth Choir (IYC) is a bilingual children’s choir designed as a space where singing becomes a shared language. Through collective vocal practice, children explore harmony, listening, and expression while engaging naturally with different languages and cultures. The emphasis is placed on group dynamics, creativity, and the joy of making music together.
APK Music is the creative branch of the studio, dedicated to composing bespoke musical material. With a strong focus on educational contexts, it develops original songs and musical projects that support learning, transmission, and cultural awareness, while also extending to other artistic formats and collaborations.
APK Consulting works with schools, museums, and cultural institutions to design music-led approaches to education and cultural mediation. Drawing on extensive pedagogical experience, this branch explores how music can function as a meaningful tool for learning within classrooms, exhibitions, galleries, and cultural spaces.
Alongside these activities, BWV 846 was created as a non-profit initiative working closely with APK STUDIOS. Too often, it is assumed that access to music is available to anyone who seeks it. In reality, social context, geography, and economic conditions can make this access uneven or impossible. BWV 846 exists to address this gap, supporting children who might otherwise be excluded from musical education and helping ensure that learning through music can reach as many children as possible.
Across all its work, APK STUDIOS approaches music not only as an art form, but as a catalyst for growth, connection, and shared experience, guided by a simple question:
music can teach music, but what else can music teach?
